About Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Australia
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) Australia is an Incorporated Association in accordance with the Associations Incorporations Act 1991 (ACT). The Association is listed in the Public Register and has adopted the Model Rules in accordance with the Associations Incorporation Regulation 2023.
The objective of the association is to create a point of connection for people interested in delivering, progressing or researching in CST in Australia.
Background
Since 2022, a Working Group for people interested in CST in Australia has been meeting virtually. The original CST Working Group aimed to improve awareness of CST in Australia and to increase access to CST in all parts of the country.
Since its inception, in collaboration with the University of Canberra, the Working Group has:

Brought together stakeholders including researchers, health professionals and people with lived experience from across Australia for virtual meetings to further the association aims

Undertaken extensive communication and advocacy activities with the public and key stakeholders;

Generated awareness of CST across Australia;

Established a CST Master Trainer position and trained over 300 people new facilitators;

Created the CST Australia website, initiated resource support for CST facilitators and commenced a research project on CST;

Hosted Professor Aimee Spector in November 2025;

Organised and delivered a CST International Conference in Canberra
In 2026, CST Australia introduced a new governance structure to support our growing community, including an Executive Committee, Membership Group, Community of Practice, and Facilitator Support Group.
